GROOMING - AIREDALE
Brief Summary.
The Airedale sheds his coat hardly at all.
This means daily brushing to remove dust and any dead hairs.
Give your little puppy some daily training in learning to
stand while being brushed.
Pay special attention to brushing leg furnishings, the face furnishings etc.,
Keep any growth of hair between pads short.
Check inside of ears, remove and gently clean any dirt or wax build up.
Nails require clipping regularly.
Should you prefer, you can take your dog to a professional groomer, the earlier puppy training will come in handy here but
dog's coat still requires having dust and dirt brushed out prior to visiting professional groomer.
PLEASE NOTE: That while weekly brushing is plenty and in this regard the Airedale is not that high
maintenance, it is important that folks realize they MUST be
stripped or clipped at least three times a year and most owners prefer it be
done every two months to maintain the breed look. This is relatively high
maintenance and is not optional. Leaving the coat will make for a sick dog.
The other point is, that most individuals who are able to live with an animal
at all can live with the Airedale coat provided it is maintained. Without
regular maintenance, the hair will begin to die and there will be
'shedding'.
