GENERAL INFORMATION -
AMERICAN STAFFORDSHIRE TERRIER.



An intensely loyal and affectionate breed. Am Staffs also excel at weight pulling, tracking, agility, flyball, and as therapy dogs to children, the elderly and the infirm. Am Staffs are also used as farm dogs and many work on TV commericals. There is no limit to what you can do with this very versatile breed!

Temperament: Affectionate and reliable. Happy, outgoing and stable temperament with great desire to please, is bright, alert with boundless courage.

Behaviour with children: Excellent. This breed has endless patience and extremely gentle with children.

Behaviour with other animals/pets. Lives in harmony.

Activity Level: High energy level .

Life Expectency: 12 - 14 years plus/minus.

Training Ability: Behaves extremely well at dog shows in both conformation and obedience. Their great desire to please makes them highly competitive and their happy attitude makes them a joy to work with.

Living Environment: Because of the Am Staff’s high energy level and their compact size, they can get a lot of exercise even in an apartment, but they love their outdoor romps and most Am Staffs love to swim. Is adaptable to both country and city living.

Health Issues: For the most part a healthy breed. As with all breeds, there are specific health issues connected with this breed that can arise. Best to check with veterinarian and breeders.
