GENERAL .INFORMATION - BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG
Brief summary
Temperament: Alert and affectionate. Generally gentle, easygoing and tolerant. Prone to shyness, should be socialised as much as possible,
especially when young. As with most dogs, inclined to bark and dig if left alone for long periods.
Behaviour with Children: As a general rule - excellent.
With other pets: Good.
Activity Level: Moderately active.
Obedience Ability: Good.
Expected Life Span: Approx. seven years plus/minus.
Living Environment: In hot weather due to heavy coat, prone to heat stroke, activity at these times should be confined to coolest part of day.
Loves the cold weather and snow.
All in all, a highly versatile breed, enjoys competing in conformation, obedience, agility, tracking, herding and carting. This breed also
make wonderful therapy dogs.
