Brief summary

Temperament:Alert, lively but mild mannered.

Behaviour with Children: Especially affectionate toward children.

Behaviour with other pets:Not trustworthy with hamsters, cats, rats or birds but normally associates well with other dogs.

Activity Level:This breed was bred to hunt so has lots of stamina and vitality, needs plenty of exercise.

Obedience Ability: Wants to please, so relatively easy to train.

Life Expectancy: Fifteen or more years.

Health: The Border Terrier is relatively insensitive to pain and shows few signs of illness, so the owner should watch this breed's health carefully.

Living Environment: The Border Terrier will do okay in an apartment if it is sufficiently excercised. They are moderately inactive indoors and a small yard is sufficient, however, will dig if left for any period of time alone.
