Temperament: The Pekingese is brave and very courageous, sensitive and can be quite independent.

Behaviour with Children: Not recommended for young children who are inclined to be too rough, suitable for older children if gentle and well behaved.

Behaviour with other pets: Inclined to be aloof.

Learning ability: Some can be stubborn.

Activity Level: Low. Can accomplish long walks when required. Not naturally exercise prone but this is necessary to maintain a healthy condition.

Expected Life Span: Healthy dogs: 10 - 14 years plus/minus.

Living Environment: Quite suitable for apartment living. Relatively inactive indoors. Enjoys play activity.
