POMERANIAN

GENERAL INFORMATION - POMERANIAN

Brief Summary

Temperament: Intelligent, loyal, independent and eager to learn.

Behaviour with Children: Not recommended for young children, inclined to snap in self-defence. Gets along well with older well behaved children.

If properly introduced, usually get along with other dogs and household animals without any problems, but some of them seem to think they are much larger than they actually are and will not hesitate to attack much bigger dogs if they feel this to be necessary.

Learning Ability: Quite good.

Expected Life Span: Approx 15 years plus/minus.

Living Environment: Good for apartment living. Quite active indoors, back yard is not essential. Avoid over-heating in hot weather. The breeds docile nature and affectionate disposition make it an ideal companion for the elderly. Although tiny in size, can walk a fair distance when being exercised.

Watch Dog: Excellent watchdor with a resounding bark - inclined to bark excessively, requires training as a youngster not do do this.
