SCOTTISH TERRIER.

GENERAL INFORMATION.


Brief Summary

Temperament: Courageous, alert, protective, hardy and loveable.

Behaviour with Children: More suited to older, considerate children.

Behaviour with other pets:Sometimes can show aggressiveness towards other dogs.

Activity Level: Moderately active indoors, will exercise itself for the most part.

Obedience Ability: Prone to stubborness, training should be firm, gentle and persuasive.

Expected Life Span: 12 - 15 years plus/minus.

Living Environment: Good for apartment living, given a yard will exercise itself. Very sensitive to criticism and praise. Often described as a dog that can do anything and go anywhere. Will happily play fetch and good for long walks in the park. Makes a very good house pet.

Watchdog: Is a good watchdog.

Health Problems:Some are prone to Scottie Cramp (a movement problem), Von Willebrand's disease, flea allergy, skin, and jaw problems. These dogs are difficult welpers.
