Temperament: The Shetland Sheepdog is an outstanding companion dog with a delightful temperament. Gentle, sensitive, loyal and dainty. Very lively and intelligent .

Obedience Ability: Very Good: Responds well to obedience training.

Learning Ability: High.

Expected Life span: 12 - 15 years plus/minus.

Living Environment: Will do well in apartment, provided given sufficient exercise. The herding instinct is quite strong, so don't put dog in position where it can chase cars or other animals etc.

Watch-dog: Pretty good - will bark to alert.

Guard Dog:Unsuitable.

If all the above is taken into consideration, makes an excellent family pet.
