Behaviour with Children:Very reliable temperament and friendly with children. They crave human attention and need to feel part of the family.

Obedience Ability: Easy to train - Needs to be gently trained early as small puppy not to pull on leash, has extremely strong neck when older.

Learning Ability: Good.

Watch Dog: Good - but usually not Guard dogs.

Expected Life Span: 10 - 12 years plus/minus.

Living Environment: The Labrador Retriever will do okay in an apartment if sufficiently exercised. They are moderately active indoors and will do best with at least an average-sized yard. Labrador Retrievers are fairly energetic dogs, delighted to work and play hard. They need quite a bit of exercise. Labs are big eaters and need regular exercise and moderate rations to avoid a tendency to become overweight.
